Fire Department

 

The EMMAUS FIRE DEPARTMENT proudly protects people and properties in Emmaus and its immediate vicinity. Until the 1980’s fire protection operated through three fire companies. In 1980, the Borough completed construction of the Central Fire Station on 6th Street from which all personnel and equipment are currently dispatched.

The Fire Department’s staff is comprised of paid on-call volunteers who respond, on average, 375-400 calls per year. Calls include fire protection, rescue/extrication,  and HAZMAT response, and are dispatched via Lehigh County’s 911 Communications Center.

The Department proudly serves the community by:

  • Providing fire prevention education to the Borough’s 3 elementary schools with over 1500 students
  • Operating and maintaining its fire training facility at 101 Klines Lane, near the Compost Site
  • Conducting Swede Flashover Survival Training classes since 1992

  • Two 1998 Central States 1250 GPM Pumpers
  • One 110’ Simon LTI 1989 Aerial
  • Central States 2002 Heavy Rescue Unit
  • 1989 Chevrolet Fire Police Vehicle
  • 1985 Chevrolet and a 1983 Ford Special response units
  • 1969 Ford bucket utility truck
  • 2001 GMC Yukon, Fire Chief’s vehicle
  • 2011 HME 109' aerial ladder truck

The Emmaus Fire Department’s Chief is John Price, a 34 fire and EMS professional with over 10 years of executive leadership experience, who oversees over 30 volunteer fire fighting professionals, comprised of duty crews, standby drivers, and crews available 24/7, 365 days a year. The Department is always looking for volunteers. We provide training in fire prevention, rescue specialties, photography, fire police, forestry fire fighter, fire investigation, hazmat response. Members receive a complete set of protective equipment, pager, and a free physical exam. Emergency vehicle training is also available.

Welcome Chief Price

Chief Price joins the Emmaus team as a recent retiree from the Easton Fire Department where he retired in December 2015 after 33 years of service.  Chief Price began his leadership career in the department beginning in 2002, when he became a lieutenant.  In 2006 he was promoted to captain and then Fire Marshall.  Chief Price ultimately earned the role as Deputy Chief in March 2007, and retired from the position eight years later.  After retirement, Chief Price briefly served as the Fire Inspector for Salisbury Township before accepting the position as Director of Emergency Services for the Borough of Emmaus. 

Chief Price has earned many certifications, accreditations, and commendations throughout his career.  Among his certifications, he is a Certified Fire Investigator (CFI), Accredited Fire Officer (FO), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Basic Vehicle Rescue Technician, Fire Plans Reviewer I & II, and HazMat First Responder Operational Level.  He has numerous Fire Command certifications, including ISO Fire Suppression Ratings, NIMS Fire Administration, and Incident Command Systems.  He remains as an active volunteer firefighter for Forks Township, is a member of the Northampton County Historical & Genealogical Society, a volunteer for the Sigal History Museum, member of the F&AM Lodge # 152 in Easton, and has participated in organizations such as coaching youth soccer and serving on a multitude of community task forces.
